About us

The Robotics Perception (ROP) Group belongs to the Robotics Machine Perception (RMP) Department, one of the six departments, of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics, and Cybernetics (CIIRC) at the Czech Technical University in Prague.

ROP Group deals with machine perception, namely computer vision, tactile perception for robotic manipulation, perception from other sensory modalities, and cognitive approach to human-robot interaction.

Seminars

Wed May 28, 2025 (10:00 JP:B-633) Paweł Gajewski: What Should a Robot Understand? A Journey Through Representation and Emergence. In this talk, Paweł will reflect on his PhD research and beyond, exploring how robots can generalize to new situations using analogy, structured knowledge, reinforcement learning, and affordance-based interaction. As the field moves toward emergent behaviour in large AI systems, many of these foundational ideas remain surprisingly relevant. Join us to explore what it truly means for a robot to “understand”, and how this understanding might arise. Online access: https://cesnet.zoom.us/j/97248350200?pwd=g4mf5YElhpAva1gv8M8ABF9qLtAnUU.1
